Dealers often come to us with problems in cars they can not figure out. We solve their ghost malfunctions or help them with other technical problems. This time the customer himself came to us after he was told by his dealer that there was nothing wrong with the car. Since we deal with turbo engines daily we can almost instantly put our finger on the problem.
After a test drive we noticed that the divertor valve needed replacing. While replacing this part we noticed that the waterpump was leaking slightly. We gave the customer feedback and received permission to replace it. The sad thing about this was that the timing belt was replaced not too long ago at the dealer, they left the old leaky water pump in it's place instead of replacing it. The coolant was changed and the customer asked us to do a oil change and replaced the old dirty cap from the coolant reservoir.
The strange behavior of the car that the owner noticed and the dealer said was nothing is now gone. The engine is now back in top condition as the customer wishes.
