by KCPerformance Overview Projects
This lovely Mercedes W123 240D came to us for a back-to-original restoration. We love classic cars at KCPerformance, so we were happy to do this project.
We started by removing the rust from the body and patched up the holes that the rust had left. The car received a full body respray in the original white color.
The engine received some love by replacing all the fluids, filters and glow plugs. We noticed that the steering box was leaking and that the steering damper and the steering knuckles were very worn. These were replaced by original parts and the steering damper by a Bilstein B4 damper. To make the ride more controllable, we replaced the springs and shocks with Bilstein B4 shocks and heavy duty springs. The stock wheels were also wrapped in a new set of tires.
We also brought the audio installation into the next century. We did this with a new MP3 headunit with a classic Mercedes headunit look and an AUX connection. We also replaced the old cardboard speakers by modern high quality speakers. The only thing left were the seals in the sliding sun roof. These were cracked and very worn. The result was a very beautiful classic car with a the looks and handling like it was just delivered from a dealership.
