A Volkswagen Golf 6 is already a beautiful car on its own, but a VW Golf 6 GTD is an even better version. With it's sporty looks and powerful diesel engine it is a real pleasure to look at and to drive. But like all standard cars, there is always room for improvement. The DPF on this Golf MK6 was removed and deleted from the software. The software was also modified to close the EGR and to deliver more power thanks to the KCPerformance stage 2 chiptune. The output was raised to 211hp & 450nm. Now this VW Golf IV GTD can wear its badge with pride.
Though raising the output of the engine wasn't enough for this client, the handling still wasn't up to this clients standard. After talking about his wishes and expectations we advised him a couple of upgrades to make the car drive to his liking. We replaced the old shock absorbers and springs with Bilstein B8 shocks and KCPerformance springs with new top mounts and front top bearings wich resulted in a nice lowering with better handling. We replaced all bushings in the front and rear with Whiteline polyurethane bushings and installed thicker Eibach sway bars.To improve the cornering even more we installed a Quaife limited slip differential so the grip of the tires is used a optimal as possible. As the gearbox isn't attached to the engine anymore we were able to install new bearings and ARP bolts for the differential. We also replaced the clutch, flywheel and pressure plate with new parts by Sachs, to top it off we also installed a new Febi hydraulic clutch release bearing.
Cornering with this GTD now is a real pleasure. All the power from the torquey engine can now be delivered to the ground without wheelspin and you can take corners without sliding on the front wheels. The car now has a bunch of grip, is very controlable and can deliver his power in a very useful way. This Golf 6 GTD now is the superlative degree of the term "hot hatch".
